The Regional Islamic Media Conference 2026 brings together local and overseas academics, media practitioners and researchers to discuss the development of Islamic media in the current digital era. Held for three days until the 4th of June, the Conference at the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah carries the theme “Da'wah and Islamic Media in the Digital Era: Challenges, Opportunities and Transformation".

The opening was officiated by Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. In his keynote address, the Director General of the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia, shared the need for the transformation of Islamic media to be more strategic, creative and proactive in facing the challenges of the digital world filled with fake news, slander and competing narratives. The conference also discussed the transformation of the da'wah model from a conventional approach to a more dynamic, interactive and data-oriented digital approach without neglecting the principles and values of syariah.
